Your Christmas Tree looks great....for Christmas...but once New Year's is over you will start to think about what to do with it.
Once the holidays have come to an end, people will have taken down their lights and removed the ornaments from their Christmas tree. The tree now looks a little sad - completely unadorned and more than a little bit dried out. Where does it go now?
If you live in Canton MA, you cannot put the tree out for pickup with your regular trash pickup. Lawn and yard waste, including Christmas trees (and other live greens) are not allowed in the regular trash. They must be brought to the Pine Street recycling facility, where they will be composted, like other yard waste. The recycling facility closed for the season on November 30th but is open for Christmas Tree disposal for the first two weeks in January.
So, you can either drag that tree into your car and drive it over to the recycling facility during its regular hours or.........there is a better way.
Canton Boy Scout Troop 77 will haul your tree away for a minimum donation of $10.00. Trees will be picked up Saturday January 4, 2014 or Saturday January 11, 2014. All you need to do is send an email to T77treepickup@gmail.com or call or text 339-502-0340 no later than January 2nd, 2014. Be sure to give your name, phone number, address, date you want the tree picked up and where you will leave your donation.
Then, all you need to do is have your tree outside by 8 am on your desired date and leave the envelope with your donation. The Boy Scouts will haul your tree away for you! Checks should be made payable to BSA Troop 77. If you would rather mail a check in advance, you can fill out this form and mail it in with your check.
There is not an easier way to dispose of your Christmas Tree in Canton MA. Your donation will help to support the various service projects undertaken by Canton Boy Scout Troop 77 like serving dinner at Father Bill's Homeless Shelter, and other similar projects.
The holidays may be over but you can keep that holiday spirit going just a little bit longer by supporting the Canton Boy Scouts.
